Bordallo Pinheiro's Cabbage is one of the best-loved designs in Portuguese ceramics: the humble, wrinkled cabbage leaf, placed with a wink at the centre of elegant tables where it would otherwise never have been invited.
The 17.5 cm bowl is the everyday size: right for breakfast cereal and yoghurt, a bowl of soup, a side salad or a serving of pasta. Stack a set in green or pink beside the matching dinner plates, and the table looks dressed before the food arrives.
