There is no switch to hunt for. To turn the lamp on, you simply pull the red Fatboy label. Pull the label down and hold it to adjust the brightness, then release it when the light is just right. The dimming is stepless, and the lamp remembers its last setting the next time you switch it on.

Mix heights. Place one lamp on the table and another on a stool or a low wall nearby. Light at different levels makes a small outdoor space feel larger and more considered.

Let white do the work. The clean white shape sits happily with almost anything: linen tablecloths, colourful stoneware, rattan, timber or stone. If you are setting a table with patterned plates or bright napkins, the lamp will not compete with them.

Keep one charged for guests. A cordless lamp in the guest room or powder room is a thoughtful touch, and easy to move if someone wants to read.
