The hatbox-like gift pack contains 250g / 8.8oz of classic Biscotti di Prato and 250g / 8.8oz of chocolate chip cookies (Cantucci without almonds, featuring dark chocolate chips). The so-called "Biscotti di Prato" are extra crunchy twice-baked almond cookies commonly known as Cantucci or Cantuccini. They belong to Tuscany's classic confectionery, and are traditionally dunked in the Vin Santo at the end of a meal. A common variant of Cantucci boasts chocolate chunks which replace the normally-used almonds. They do not contain preservatives, animal fats or vegetable fats. Since the 1920s, hatboxes have been used by Antonio Mattei to ship their sweet products. Ideal as a gift pack, the sturdy hatbox can then be reused as a storage box for different kinds of items, such as clothes pegs, toiletries, etc. Ingredients (Classic Cantucci): WHEAT flour, sugar, ALMOND 20%, free-range EGGS, PINE NUTS. May contain BUTTER, SOY, PISTACHIOS and HAZELNUTS. Ingredients (Chocolate Chip Cantucci): WHEAT flour, sugar, dark chocolate 20% (cocoa, sugar, cocoa butter, Bourbon vanilla pod), free-range EGGS. May contain ALMONDS, PISTACHIOS, SOY, PINE NUTZ, BUTTER and HAZELNUTS. Allergens in uppercase. Store in a cool and dry place, away from direct light and heat sources. The Premiata Fabbrica di Biscotti Mattei was established in Prato in 1858. The quality of Mattei's iconic biscuits soon began to spread beyond city and regional boundaries, also thanks to an honourable mention at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1867. The surname "Mattei" was also mentioned by Hermann Hesse, and former-president of the United States of America Bill Clinton is among Mattei's loyal customers.
